#25. what I like about Japan; safety
Tokyo is the safest city in the whole world, I believe.
I occasionally go out dinks with friends and co-workers after-work.
We end up finishing just before the last train which is around midnight.
This happens a lot especially on Friday, haha.
No one worries about walking alone from the metro station to home,
even the young women don’t care if it’s safe or not.
Because it’s always safe in Japan.
My daughter started taking metro trains when she entered
elementary school as we chose a private school for her.
She needed to change the line once and it was about
20 minutes to get there.
Believe me, she wasn’t the only one.
Almost all kids take trains to go to school at her school.
I heard some takes more than a half hour and need to
change the lines twice or three times.
To be honest, I couldn’t imagine that a 6-year-old taking train
by herself as I grew up in the US and Europe.
But my hubby and friends told me not to worry.
We gave her a cell phone and a crime prevention buzzer from Day 1.
The first month, I accompanied her from home to school and
picked her up from school.
But that was just one month.
After that, she had no problem going there.
We can do this because it’s totally safe here, you see.
